DataStealth Named to PCI SSC Board of Advisors

By
Thomas Borrel

We are proud and excited to announce that DataStealth has been appointed to the PCI Security Standards Council’s (PCI SSC) Board of Advisors for the 2025 to 2027 term.

As one of only 64 organizations selected globally, we’re joining a highly influential group of security leaders, including Bank of America, Salesforce, Stripe, and Shopify, tasked with helping shape the future of payment data security.

This appointment isn’t just an honor. It’s a responsibility that aligns with our mission to secure sensitive data and simplify compliance for organizations worldwide.

Why it Matters

The Board of Advisors represents PCI SSC Participating Organizations worldwide to ensure global industry involvement in the development of the PCI Security Standards and Programs.

Thomas Borrel, the Chief Product Officer (CPO) at DataStealth, is one of 64 Board members to join the PCI SSC in its efforts to secure payment data globally. As strategic partners, Board members bring industry, geographical, and technical insight to PCI SSC plans and projects.

“The Board of Advisors provides industry expertise and perspectives that influence and shape the development of PCI security standards and programs,” said Gina Gobeyn, PCI SSC Executive Director. “We look forward to working with Thomas and DataStealth in our efforts to help organizations secure payment data globally.”

With threats evolving faster than ever, especially with the rise of AI-driven tools and quantum computing, the PCI SSC Board of Advisors serves the critical role of ensuring that the security standards reflect the real-world challenges organizations face in protecting sensitive data.

Our commitment to the industry

As one of the world’s leading Data Security Platforms (DSP), we’re driven by a simple principle: security must be a business enabler, not slow you down.

Our patented technology helps organizations protect their most sensitive data across cloud, on-prem, hybrid, and big data environments, without requiring any code changes.

As a PCI Level 1 Service Provider, and a recognized leader in the data security space, we’re committed to sharing practical, scalable, and forward-thinking insights that help shape more effective global standards.

Joining the Board of Advisors isn’t just about influence. It’s about impact. We’re here to ensure the PCI DSS framework remains:

  • Relevant to emerging technologies and threats,
  • Practical for modern development and infrastructure teams, and
  • Aligned with the growing overlap between cybersecurity, compliance, and operational resilience.

“There’s a convergence happening where the threats and lessons of payment data security are increasingly applying to the broader cybersecurity space – and vice-versa,” said Thomas Borrel, “This appointment gives us a platform to contribute what we’ve learned and to learn from others working at the front lines of security.”

What Comes Next

Over the next two years, we’ll be collaborating with fellow Board members to:

  • Guide updates to PCI DSS and related standards,
  • Evaluate new technologies and risks facing the industry, and
  • Share input from our customers and partners on what works – and what doesn’t – when it comes to protecting sensitive data

We’ll also be sharing key learnings and updates from the PCI SSC throughout our term, so stay tuned for insight into how global data security standards are evolving in real time.
